The Heritage Institute for Policy Studies (HIPS) is pleased to extend an invitation to you for Phase II of the Seventh Edition of the Annual Forum for Ideas (AFI), scheduled in Mogadishu from March 4th to 5th, 2024. This forum is a continuation of AFI 2023, which was held in Djibouti from December 19th to 21st, 2023. Unfortunately, it was canceled midway to mourn the passing of Somalia’s Minister Khadija Mohamed Diriye, who tragically passed away while in Djibouti to participate in the forum as a keynote speaker.
In the second phase of AFI 2023, we anticipate the participation of approximately 300 stakeholders, including peace practitioners, policymakers, religious leaders, business leaders, academics, traditional elders, women, and youth actively engaged in peacebuilding and reconciliation.
Aligned with the theme for the Seventh Edition of AFI, "Fostering a Culture of Peace in the Horn: Advancing Conciliation and Social Cohesion among Somalis," this phase will include the presentation of the remaining papers that were not presented due to the halting of the forum. The theme was selected in light of rising tensions and conflicts across the Somali territories in the Horn of Africa.
The AFI presents an interactive platform to reflect and present innovative conciliation and social cohesion approaches grounded in cultural, political, economic, and religious initiatives. We look forward to your participation in this meaningful event.
